Penn's Peak announced Friday that REO Speedwagon will play in September.

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon’s unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. Platinum albums and radio staples soon followed, setting the stage for the release of the band’s explosive Hi Infidelity in 1980, which contained the massive hit singles “Keep On Loving You,” and “Take It On the Run.” That landmark album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the RIAA’s coveted 10X Diamond Award for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States.

Today, REO Speedwagon has sold 40 million albums around the globe, and Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert with hits and fan-favorites such as “In Your Letter,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Time For Me To Fly,” “Roll With The Changes,” the aforementioned “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On the Run,” and many, many more.

Tickets on sale Friday, March 2 at 10:00 AM at all Ticketmaster outlets, the Penn’s Peak Box Office and Roadies Restaurant and Bar. Penn’s Peak Box Office and Roadies Restaurant ticket sales are walk-up only, no phone orders.

On Saturday, March 3, Knoebels will host its annual job fair from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Elysburg Fire Hall, 1 E. Mill St., Elysburg.

According to Jon Anderson, Knoebels’ Human Resources Director, Knoebels is hoping to fill 800 new seasonal positions. “Attending the job fair is a great opportunity to meet your potential manager face-to-face, and get a good understanding of what each job entails,” said Anderson. “Some attendees arrive with a specific position in mind, but then see the variety of positions available and end up joining a team they didn’t know existed prior to the job fair. It’s great to be able to hire team members in areas of genuine interest that they will find fulfilling.”

In addition to chatting with reps from each department, attendees can complete an application, schedule an interview, and learn more about team member perks, such as:

· Free entry to 15 parks

· Team member-only events

· Paycheck stuffers (food coupons, ride tickets, etc.)

· 25% off in-park food (using team member dinner dollars)

· 25% off ride tickets

· 10% off meals at Nickle Plate Bar & Grill

· Special rates at Three Ponds Golf Course

· Knoebels Scholarship Program for school aged team members

Knoebels offers a competitive wage for both new and returning team members. Specific pay rates vary by job function, and team members can qualify for a raise each returning season. While Knoebels is primarily seeking team members aged 16 and older, there are a limited number of positions available for 14 and 15 year olds. Team members 16 years of age and older can expect a starting hourly rate that is above minimum wage. School aged workers are required to have working papers when hired. Questions about joining the Knoebels team can be referred to HR@knoebels.com or (570) 672-2572.

A Pottsville man was killed in a crash in Foster Township Sunday afternoon.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 1:15pm at the Route 901 overpass of Interstate 81.

Police say the crash occurred when a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by Adam Ould, 27, of Pottsville was travelling northbound on Route 901 just south of Interstate 81.

For unknown reasons, Ould crossed the southbound lane striking a guard rail, then traveled down an embankment.  Ould's vehicle struck another guard rail and a concrete jersey barrier on the shoulder of Interstate 81.

After impacting the jersey barrier, Ould's vehicle came to a final rest on its roof in the right lane of northbound Interstate 81.

Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky pronounced Ould dead at the scene at 1:40pm.  Ould was reported to not be wearing a seat belt.

Interstate 81 has since reopened but was closed for about 3 hours after the crash.
