North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High School students could be seen on Wednesday afternoon throughout various towns within the district, participating in their annual Fall Window painting contest.

This marks the 65th year that students have been decorating area business windows with fall themed paintings.

Approximately 65 students were participating this year, painting windows in the towns of: Aristes, Ashland, Frackville, Girardville, Gordon, and Ringtown.

The theme for this year’s paintings was “Under the Big Top”.

Students first submit a drawing on paper of their ideas, and the top selections as determined by the Art Department at North Schuylkill, are assigned an area window in which they convert their original drawing into a painting, to scale with the size of the window they are given.

Once all of the paintings are finished, they are judged by retired North Schuylkill Art teachers, who award a Grand Prize, 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and Honorable Mention.
