According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 8:00pm on Interstate 81 Southbound near mile marker 135.4.

Troopers say the crash occurred when Elliot Clark, 22, of Fracville, was "cut off" by another vehicle.

Clark's Kia Sportage drifted off the left side of the roadway  and when he attempted to swerve, he overcorrected and began to rotate.  He skid off the left side of the roadway hitting a ditch, then rolling onto it's roof.

The Sportage slid up a 20' embankment and came to a rest on it's roof.

All passengers, including two children were properly seatbelted or in safety seats.  All occupants were able to crawl out of the vehicle but one passenger suffered minor injuries including cuts to her arm.

Clark will be cited for the crash.

Halcovage Steps Down as Chairman of Board of the Schuylkill County Commissioners; New Calls for Resignation

$

During the Wednesday work session of the Schuylkill County Commissioners, Commissioner George Halcovage announced he would step down as chairman of the Schuylkill County Board of Commissioners.

On Tuesday, the findings of a month long investigation by the Schuylkill County Solicitors Office and Human Resources Department into "serious allegations" reported that Commissioner George Halcovage violated three county polices that included the Sexual Harassment Policy #2005-18 (Revised September 2013), the Conduct and Disciplinary Action Policy #2005-19; and the Physical and Verbal Abuse Policy #2007-02 (Revised March, 2007).

Halcovage has denied the allegations.

At the top of the meeting, prior to the public comment, Commissioner Halcovage stated, "During this time, I will be stepping aside as the Chair.  As to not distract the operations of the county as these proceedings that we are all aware of.".

Halcovage then passed control of the meeting to Vice-Chairman Commissioner Barron Hetherington.

The floor was open to those who connected electronically via phone as well as those in attendance.

Clerk of Courts Maria Casey also spoke and called for Halcovage's resignation.

"These are critical allegations against Commissioner Halcovage.  Commissioner Hess has asked him to resign and now I'm also asking him to resign." Casey said.

Casey also made a point to say that she felt Commissioner Halcovage should not be allowed in the courthouse.

Casey called Halcovage a "serial perpetrator" and said that victims should not be afraid to go into the courthouse.

Commissioner Hetherington spoke at the end of the public comment portion of the meeting and stated "I just want to sum up by saying that all this stuff I take very seriously and deep into my heart.  I do believe in due process through the United States Court System, however as the father 3 young women that work in this industry.  I will not support any type of harassment, especially sexual harassment with women.  I speak for Commissioner Hess and myself, that at any point will we cover anything up.  This is a process that has to take place and take care because there are several people involved that are employees and we have to protect their identities.  As for comment, I think the report speaks for itself in the paper last night".

During the new business portion of the meeting, Commissioner Halcovage moved to nominate Commissioner Hetherington as the new chairman of the Board of County Commissioners.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gary Hess, but wanted to comment and said "Again this is one step into this process, and again with all due respect to you Commissioner Hetherington, I know that you are new to this whole process, but as you step into this chair that you will take the expertise of county Administrator Gary Bender to help you through this process rather than Commissioner Halcovage, and again this not a decision that is political,  but this is the right thing.  We need to make sure the county continues in the right steps.  I still feel that Commissioner Halcovage  you should still step aside as all application as Commissioner".

The Rush Township Police have a charged a woman after she pointed a gun at a group of people over the weekend for setting off fireworks.

According to Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, on Saturday, June 27th, 2020, around 10:20pm, the Rush Township Police Department received a report of a person threatening individuals in the unit block of Hometown Avenue.

The complainant stated that she was setting off fireworks with family members and friends in that area when Regan Miller, 72, of Tamaqua, came walking up to them and confronted them about the fireworks.

Police say Miller had what appeared to be a long arm such as a shotgun or rifle. One victim stated that Miller originally held the gun with the barrel pointed at the ground, but she then raised the barrel and pointed it directly at the victims, and demanded that the group go back into the house.

The Rush Township Police investigated the incident and have filed misdemeanor charges against Miller through Magisterial District Judge Bayer's office that include four counts of Terroristic Threats and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 4th, 2020 before MDJ Bayer.

PA Secretary of Health Signs Order Requiring Masks to Be Worn Whenever Someone Leaves Home

Governor Wolf and Dr. Levine announced starting immediately, everyone will need to wear masks when outside their home.

Expanding on the business safety order signed by Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine in April that requires the wearing of masks in businesses, on Wednesday Governor Tom Wolf announced a new order signed by Dr. Levine that takes the mask-wearing directive one step further.

With this order, signed under Dr. Levine’s authority under the Disease Prevention and Control Act, masks must be worn whenever anyone leaves home. The order takes effect immediately.

“This mask-wearing order is essential to stopping the recent increase in COVID-19 cases we have seen in Pennsylvania,” Gov. Wolf said. “Those hot spots can be traced to situations where Pennsylvanians were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing – two practices that must be adhered to if we want to maintain the freedoms we have in place under our reopening.”

The order outlines the situations when a mask must be worn and includes limited exceptions to the face-covering requirement.

“It is essential that Pennsylvanians wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. “While cases increase in some areas, we cannot become complacent. My mask protects you, and your mask protects me. Wearing a mask shows that you care about others, and that you are committed to protecting the lives of those around you.”

The mask-wearing order will be sent to state and local officials, law enforcement and others tasked with education about the order for those not in compliance.

Work begins on new space for batting cages for the Ashland Little League.

Ashland Little League is expanding its practice areas. After many years of fundraising, the league was able to profit over $100,000 to build a pole building that will be used primarily for batting and pitching practices. Money obtained from a grant, also helped with the building process.

The new 40' wide, by 80' long, by 18' high pole building sits on the north side of the 1400 Block of Race Street, near the playing fields. Tennis courts once stood were the new building is.

Turf will be installed inside the building. Shamokin Area High School donated the turf to the league, after they replaced theirs on the football field. .

Ashland Little League officials are hoping that once the building is operating the whole community could benefit from it. They are hoping to have it open by the fall.

Pioneer Pole Building, Schuylkill Haven, is in charge of the building construction.

McAdoo Man Charged with Unlawful Contact with a Minor

A McAdoo man is locked up in Luzerne County Prison after making contact online with someone he thought was a 15 year old girl.

According to Kingston Municipal Police, on June 15, 2020, around 11:00am, while assuming the identity of a fifteen year old female, Detective Stephen Gibson was contacted by a male who purported himself as "Jr,” a 39 year old male from Hazleton on a social media site. During this investigation, “Jr" was positively identified to be Jesse J. Klick, 38, of McAdoo, by utilizing facial recognition.

Jesse began the conversation by instant messaging "Hey how are you?” Jesse stated that he was at work at the time, which he stated he was a landscaper, and provided a "selfie." Jesse told her that she “looked like a cutie from what I could see,” and asked her to send more pictures.

Jesse stated that he was on the social media site looking for someone "sweet, caring and affectionate.” Jesse asked her what she does for fun and she told him that she just likes to hang out with her friends and party, to which Jesse replied that he does pretty much the same and that he "would love to have someone special I can do that with."

Jesse stated that he was 35 years old and that he didn't have a girlfriend. He then asked if she had a boyfriend and she told him that she did not. Jesse was advised that the person he was speaking with was only fifteen years of age. Jesse continued to message her, advising her that he lives about 20 or 30 minutes away, near Hazleton.

Jesse continued the conversation by asking what her favorite color was and she told him it was pink. He then replied, "I love when girls wear pink 😍.” Jesse then stated, "You'd proly look good in pink lingerie." She told him that she does and he replied "wish I could do something but stuck at work." He wrote that he loves a girl who wears lingerie and stated "I have some man thongs I could wear when you wear yours." She then replied that it sounded fun and he replied "I have a thong swim suit too but have no where to wear it lol."

Jesse further stated, "It would be nice to see you." She replied asking him if he would really come see her and he replied, “Yeah you seem nice." She then asked him what we could do and he replied, "Make out in your pool, or just cuddle and make out." She told him that he was just teasing and he replied, "I'm not teasing. I'm just at work and can't do anything about it,” including a sad face emoji. She told him that her mom would be home and he replied, “If we would've talked before I had to work I would've took day off." She then told him that she doesn’t drive yet that in a few more months she'll be 16 and she could get her license. He replied "Thats ok I drive" and continued to state “we can go anywhere to make out and what not."

Jesse agreed to purchase condoms because she wasn't old enough to buy them and he stated that he would use them if she wanted him to, but if he's with someone he doesn't want to use them. He then agreed that he would be her boyfriend so they didn't need to use the condoms. Jesse then agreed to meet her at specific location in Kingston ‪at 9:30am on June 16, 2020.

On June 16, 2020 at approximately 9:30am, she messaged Jesse to see if they were still meeting. Jesse did not reply ‪until 11:30am and stated that he got up late and that he was nervous because of the age difference and was worried it was a "setup." Jesse then asked to meet up on June 17, 2020, at the same location and the same time. Jesse then replied "and what we were talking about yesterday.. I don't wanna use a condom when we meet cuz I want to feel you, I will cum on outside don't worry." Jesse further asked if she had nice boobs and sent her "hugs and kisses" stickers. Jesse then stated, "Maybe I'll wear a man thong tomorrow." Jesse then stated that his car broke down and he had no way to get here to meet her. Jesse stated that he had to get his car fixed in the next day or two.

On June 19, 2020, the conversation continued where Jesse wrote that she would get kisses all over, whenever his car was fixed and that it would be with his tongue. Jesse then wrote that it would happen one of these days soon.

Jesse said that he was nervous the first time we were supposed to meet and the second time his car broke down. Jesse then sent several emoji's, depicting a face with the tongue sticking out, and said "all over the front and back of you." Jesse then wrote that she had a "nice [expletive] (butt)” and that he will "put his face in it,” when he sees her and stated that he will "put something else in there too besides his face and tongue" and then questioned, "you'd let me [expletive] your [expletive] (butt)?" When she agreed, he said that he couldn't wait and that he would "cum in it too." Jesse then asked if she would be his forever and said that he would consider moving closer so that she could just walk over anytime and she could always spend the night.

The conversation continued where Jesse said that his car would be fixed next week and he sent an emoji face with the tongue sticking out and wrote "licky licky front and back."

The conversation continued and on June 22, 2020, Jesse sent a photo of himself wearing underwear and said that it was a picture of his "man thong." The conversation was terminated on June 24, 2020.

On July 2, 2020, Detectives spoke with Jesse Klick. Jesse provided a video/audio statement admitting to having the above mentioned sexually explicit conversation with who he believed to be a 15 year old female.

Jesse was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Joseph D. Spagnuolo, Jr. on the charges of 2 counts of Unlawful Contact with a Minor (Felony 1), 2 counts Unlawful Contact with a Minor (Felony 2), Criminal Use of a Communication Facility (Felony 3), and Unlawful Contact with a Minor (Misdemeanor 2).

Jesse was denied bail and lodged at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

His preliminary arraignment is scheduled for ‪09:30am on July 15, 2020‬ at Luzerne County Central Court.

On Friday, another company came to the aid of a former North Schuylkill high school football player that was injured last year.

Earlier this week, we told you the story about the Chill Out Ice Cream Bar & Snack Shop in Shenandoah that donated $2,500 to Jaden Leiby.

Thanks to the power of the press, the owners of Spector Manufacturing Inc, in Saint Clair, saw the stories by WNEP, the Republican Herald, and Skook News and decided they wanted to help too.

"Schuylkill County is a small area and word travels fast.  We heard somebody from North Schuylkill got hurt and as you saw, it impacts the whole community, not just North Schuylkill.  We were excited Jaden was able to come down today and give him something towards his recovery" said Joe Mashak, a purchasing agent for Spector.

On Friday afternoon, Jaden Leiby, along with his dad Heath, brother Jake Green, received a $5,000 check from the owner Charlie Spector, purchasing agent Joe Mashak, Plant Manager Dave Koinski, Office Manager Patricia Sullivan, and Stefan Kowalonek from Accounting along with 28 of the plant employees.

"Again I'm speechless, these people are great people.  I just heard about it and I was shocked again.  Schuylkill County is great place and I'm glad to have met these people and the people from Chill out that made this all happen.  I'm very thankful." said Jaden Leiby.
