If your attic, basement or even your living room has any unusual or interesting antique items sitting around and you have always wondered what its value is or in some cases, what the heck was that used for?

Why not bring it out this Sunday September 9th to the Tamaqua Historical Society’s Antique Appraisal Faire conducted by a certified antique appraiser and dealer from the Lehigh Valley. This fun and educational event will be held from 1 to 4 PM in the Tamaqua Museum Annex at 114 West Broad Street in Tamaqua.

“This is the second event of its kind presented by the society following a very popular and successful first time event held a year ago” said Society President Dale Freudenberger.

Last year people brought in many antique items including slag glass lamps, pretty dishes, rare maps, art glass, a miniature photo of Abraham Lincoln in a gold frame, antique clocks, Victorian porcelain statues, handmade quilts and more.

The appraiser will not appraise artwork, firearms and weaponry, or coins and currency.

There is a limit of 3 items per person brought in to the appraisal faire and a charge of $5.00 per item to be appraised.

No reservation or appointments are needed and all proceeds benefit the Tamaqua Historical Society. Admission to the event is free.

A burglary in Hazle Township is believed to have been done by Shawn Christy.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, on Wednesday September 5th, Troopers responded to Skitco Iron Works, Hazle Township, Luzerne County, for a report of a Burglary.

Police say they believe that the suspect involved was wanted fugitive Shawn Christy, of McAdoo. Items taken include Money, food and a Beretta shotgun.

A search of the area is being conducted consisting of multiple Law Enforcement Agencies.

Christy has been wanted by the FBI, United Stated States Secret Service and the United State Marshal service since he allegedly made threats to harm/kill a police chief, other law enforcement officials, a district attorney, and President Donald Trump.

The threats were reportedly made through Facebook between June 3rd, 2018 and June 12, 2018.

Officials have been seeking Christy since an arrest warrant was issued on June 19, 2018.

He has been spotted in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Maryland over the course of 2 months until recently returning to Rush Township, Schuylkill County, where he allegedly left a stolen truck and has been spotted burglarizing Skipper Dippers and also being spotted near a dumpster.

Police say, if an alarm is activated within a house / business, contact 911 immediately to allow Law Enforcement officials to properly check the property.

If Christy is observed, he is to be considered armed and dangerous – do not approach and contact 911 immediately - do not delay in calling.

Any and all suspicious activity should immediately be reported to Police by contacting 911.
