On Friday, North Schuylkill Elementary celebrated "Read Across America" with a visit from student teachers from Bloomsburg University.

The annual event included student teachers from Dr. Kali Fedor's Special Education Course.

Each student teacher prepared a 40-45 minute lesson plan based on a Dr. Seuss book for a Kindergarten through 3rd Grade class at North Schuylkill Elementary.

Each student teach prepared 2 separate lesson plans at different grade levels.

The student teachers used books like the Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Oh the Places You'll Go, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, Horton Hears a Who, and I'll Teach My Dog 100 Words.

Each class off started off by reading their assigned book to the students, then gave lessons that focused on Science, Math, History, Art, and even a game or two.

Dr. Fedor said "This is the first time some of these student are teaching in front of a full class.  This is their final step before becoming a full time student teacher for a school district.  They also have a lot of fun coming up with the lesson plans and the elementary kids really seem to enjoy it."

The visit has been an annual event for over 20 years between Bloomsburg University and North Schuylkill.
