George T. Ross, father, and grandfather, 75 years of age of Dodson Street, Mary D, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at home while in the care of his daughters.

Widower of Dorothy A. Toth who passed away on October 21, 2015.

George retired from Rich Maid Kitchens of Reading, having worked as a carpenter. He also served as a Schuylkill Township Police Officer for many years.

As a young man George played semi-pro hockey. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting, and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

Born Saturday, June 8, 1940 in Detroit , Michigan, he was the son of the late Theodore, and Viola June (Conlin) Ross.

Surviving are daughters;

Louann Briener wife of Perry of Tamaqua,
Susan Martin wife of John of Tamaqua,
Rebecca Quinn wife of Wilbur of Mary D,
June Vaccaro of Mary D,
Georgianna M. Ross of Mary D;

Brother, Christopher Ross of Florida;

Sisters, Holly Parkin of Michigan, and Valzora Spriggs wife of Don of Reno Nevada;

6 grand children; 9 great grand children.

Preceded in death by a sister, Miss Pam Ross.

Mary L. Madonna, 73, of High Street, Ashland, passed away Wednesday morning December 9, 2015, surrounded by her family at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown. Born in Irvington, N.J., August 5, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Schantschek Hickey. She was a graduate of Irvington High School, and was employed as a secretary and office manager of Madonna Materials, Ashland, until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Mt. Carmel. Preceding her in death was a daughter Teresa Madonna, April 28, 2014, and a brother John Hickey

Survived by loving family:

Husband, Vincent, married 56 years

Daughter: Patricia Madonna, Frackville

Daughter: Marie wife of Chris Kissell, State College

Son: Vincent Madonna and his fiancé Danyel Snopek, Port Carbon

Family friend, Kurt Shilling, Bethel

Grandchildren: Collette and Liam Kissell, Angelina Madonna, Amelia Hinch, Leslie, Pamela, and Mary Beth Wofford, and Vincent J. Anthony

Great Grandchildren: Bella Aikey, Sophia Dimitratos, Naje and Daevonn Rogers

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday December 14th, 11 AM, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 47 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Celebrant will be Rev. Frank Karwacki, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Sunday, 4 PM to 8 PM, and Monday morning, 9 AM to10 AM. Visit Fritzfuneralhome.com. The Richard W. Michael Kroh, 32, of Middle St., Locustdale, passed away Monday, December 7th, at his residence. Born in Pottsville, November 11, 1983, he is the son of Colleen Clews Kroh, Hazleton, and the late Francis Kroh of Ashland. He attended North Schuylkill High School, and was employed as a carpenter’s assistant with Shoup Contracting, Ashland. Survivors in addition to his mother Sister: Lacey Welikonich and her companion, Antionne Minor, Hazleton Brother: Kevin Clews, Ashland Brother: Justin Kroh, Hazleton Aunt: Barbara Ferrari, Ashland Nephew: Kato Minor, Hazleton Cousin: Joseph Ferrari, Ashland Girl Friend: Kelsey Shappell, Locustdale Maternal Grandparents: Ronald and Eilleen Burke Clews, Ashland Paternal Grandmother: Rosemary Kroh, Locustdale Aunts, Uncles, cousins Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service, Wednesday, December 16th, at 7 PM in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Dana Heckman Beil, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Ashland. Visitation with family will begin at 5 PM until service.
