Edward J. Devaney Sr., 48, Mount Carmel, former Girardville resident, passed away unexpectedly Friday at his residence.
Born at the former Ashland Hospital he was a son of William and Mary Ann ( Gallagher ) Devaney, Girardville. He had been employed Our Lads Beer Distributor, Ashland, until his retirement.
He was a graduate of the former Cardinal Brennan Jr/Sr High School, Fountain Springs and was a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville, now St Charles Borromeo Parish.
In addition to his parents Ed is survived by his two sons; Edward J. and Kyle Devaney, both of Girardville, his sister Molly wife of Stephen Fera, York, his brothers; William Devaney and Daniel, husband of Rachel Devaney, both of Girardville, by his companion Audrey Strunk, Mount Carmel and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Girardville with Rev. John Bambrick, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
