Dozens of Vehicles Involved in Interstate 81 Crash Friday Afternoon

Dozens of  vehicles were involved in a multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.


Around 3:40pm, emergency personnel were called to the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 between 131 and 139 for a multi-vehicle.

In all, 32 vehicles, including tractors trailers were reported to have been involved in the crash.

Multiple people were injured and were transported to area hospitals via helicopter and ambulance.

As of 8:00pm, Friday evening, the northbound lanes were still closed between Milemarker 131 (Mahanoy City/Hometown) and 138 (McAdoo).

**RETRACTION:  We originally reported there were 25 vehicles in the crash, but the correct number was actually 32.
