Doris M Erdman, age 81, of Valley View, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville surrounded by family.

She was born on Wednesday, April 25, 1934, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Calvin Bixler and the late Blanche Specht Bixler.

She was a 1952 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins; where over the years she was a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, Sunday School pianist, and a member of the ladies trio the Valentines.

Doris was a soloist for many weddings and special occasions. She loved reading, gardening, and baking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers Earl Bixler and Calvin Bixler.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth R Erdman, to whom she was married for 62 years.

She is also survived by a son, Jimmy R Erdman and his wife Rose of Tower City; a daughter, Dianne E Strite and her husband Thomas of Reston, VA; a grandson, Andrew J Strite and his wife Abby of Austin, TX; a granddaughter, Amanda K Strite of Olney, MD; a great grandson, Dominick A Strite of Austin, TX; a sister, Alice Klinger of Hegins; a brother, Leon Bixler and his wife Mary of Exton; a sister in law, Joann Bixler of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean I. Krantz, age 94, of Quakertown, PA, formerly of Port Carbon passed away Sunday, September 13th, 2015 at Lifequest Nursing Center in Quakertown.

Born in Port Carbon, PA on April 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Ellen (Berry) Shipe.

Jean was a graduate of Soldier's Memorial High School in Port Carbon, Class of 1939.

She worked as a candy maker for Costas Candy in Palo Alto.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Port Carbon and then the St. John's Lutheran Church in Folcroft.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ronald W. Krantz, Sr. in 1992, a son Ronald W. Krantz Jr in 2011, 5 brothers: Kenneth, Burton, George, Lewis, and William Shipe and a sister Elizabeth Gephardt.

Jean is survived by her daughter Linda Bender and her husband Gary, Quakertown; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 10:30AM on Saturday, September 19th, with Rev. Lorraine Heckman officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to community Hope Veterans Program, 959 Route 46 East, Suite 402, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
